Health and Safety

At Kaztradeneft, employee and contractor health and safety are of utmost importance, and we actively foster this culture throughout the entire organization. Worldwide, QHSE training and procedures are rigorous and held to a high standard. There are things going on at Kaztradeneft that could seriously harm a lot of people. In 2020, there were two (2) lost time incidents in Kazakhstan involving workers from Kaztradeneft and one of the contractors. Every incident was investigated, the reasons behind them were found, and corrective action plans were made in compliance with our HSE guidelines. Copies of the Contractor HSE Performance Process were sent to C&P, all Contract Owners, and in 2022. A pop-up window with a safety alert from the QHSE appears each day when they log in.

2020 saw the start of the safety initiative, which was then expanded in 2021. Our Guidelines outline the main safety standards for Kaztradeneft and are based on international best practices in the oil and gas sector as well as an examination of incident data. The Hazard Identification Program has been fully implemented at Kaztradeneft and Contractors. Through this program, any employee can report unsafe work environments, provide feedback on safe or risky employee behavior, and recommend changes to HSE.

The impact of failure on related risk determines the optimal kind of maintenance strategy based on the criticality of the equipment. Reports on critical systems can be made and maintenance can be prioritized in the event of a resource shortage. Devices, machinery, or systems that are required to keep process conditions within safe operating bounds or whose goal is to stop the process from failing are considered safety critical elements.

We intend to guarantee a high degree of openness and transparency in our operations by putting the concept of active dialogue with stakeholders into reality. The full operational cycle, from HC exploration and production through transportation and refining to distribution of crude oil and oil products both in Kazakhstan and overseas, is provided by Kaztradeneft, which represents state interests in the oil and gas sector. Many parties have an impact on our work, which could compromise its success. We strive to keep stakeholders informed, regardless of their size—from an individual to a major corporation.

When defining stakeholders and stakeholder engagement, Kaztradeneft makes use of the most efficient methods available, such as international standards like the AA1000SES Stakeholder Engagement Standard. Kaztradeneft has approved a stakeholder map that takes into account risks in addition to rankings based on duties, circumstances, influence, location (with a focus on high-risk areas), and various prospects. We have a number of methods for staying in touch with all of our stakeholders because they are diverse, including focus groups, workshops, forums, one-on-one discussions, joint ventures, and meetings.
