Labour Protection

The management of the refinery will implement the System in 2023. The ideal working environment is one that maximizes time and energy savings, cleanliness, accuracy, order maintenance, and operations performance. This approach is known as the System. The system is now in use at the refinery, and it significantly expedites workplace inspections. Kaztradeneft obtained a “Certificate of Trust” in 2022 as a part of a pilot program on the involvement of companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan in voluntary declarations of activities on the observance of workers’ labor rights. The refinery will therefore be listed in the Registry of employers who guarantee respect for workers’ rights and will be exempt from labor inspections to comply with labor law for a period of two years.

Kaztradeneft is proud to employ a diverse workforce. The Kaztradeneft Code of Conduct forbids unlawful discrimination against any employee or contractor on the grounds of race, religion, national origin, age, gender, handicap, sexual orientation, or political opinion. We recognize that despite the encouragement we receive from our diverse Board of Directors and department heads, diversity in the oil and gas industry remains a challenge, especially with regard to gender diversity. Our goal is to create a friendly, diverse workplace that is appealing to work in.

Kaztradeneft is committed to enhancing gender parity across the board, and we are working with interest groups to figure out how to do it. Kaztradeneft has had a business equality and diversity policy in place for a while in order to further support these goals. By 2022, women will make up 23% of Kazakhstan’s trade sector workforce. The Board acknowledges the significance of making progress in this area and is committed to considering the benefits of diversity in future appointments, including ensuring that Kazakh nationals are fairly represented at senior levels of the Company.

Investing in our people is critical to the communities where we operate becoming economically self-sufficient. As stipulated in the agreement, we must annually accrue 1% of the applicable field development costs. At least once a year, funds are set aside in the budget for HSE training, which includes fire safety. No further instructions were given beyond what the PSA required. Employees who left their jobs due to retirement or termination of employment received no support.

The company had a human rights policy in place for the entire year 2022 and was dedicated to following industry best practices. In 2023, training was provided regarding this policy. Kaztradeneft Field has a code of conduct known as “the Code” that outlines the values that should guide business behavior and provides an overview of what is deemed appropriate employee behavior in addition to the Human Rights Policy. These principles include sections on human rights, diversity in the workplace, insider dealing, and insider knowledge.

We have a whistleblowing policy that is applicable to all Kaztradeneft employees, regardless of their positions or levels, and it takes into consideration the code of practice for whistleblowing arrangements established by the Kazakhstan Standards Institute as well as public concern at work. The whistleblowing policy lists three compliance liaison officers who can be contacted with any issues. These officers have a range of language skills. The Whistleblowing Policy is also mentioned in the Code, and anyone who reports something in good faith will not face any consequences.
